Moving to Flagstaff
When I arrived in Flagstaff seven years ago, my client base was exactly zero. I had been a Mortgage Loan Originator and Real Estate Broker of a successful co-owned company in a small town in Oklahoma for nearly fifteen years.
After 2008, the whole industry changed. Among other things, we could no longer practice real estate and lending in the same office. I was also unsure about what was going to happen to the economy where I worked (the full force of the recession had not yet hit the mid-west). After our family agonized about the decision of whether to stay or leave, we finally sold our 300-acre ranch and office building and moved the family West to Flagstaff!
Becoming Successful
As a result of the new paradigm we saw in the industry, we made the decision to invest in our education and business. We knew the industry was changing fast and we were going to have to be on the cutting edge of the change if we wanted to succeed in our new home. We chose the most progressive agents in the country with their finger on the pulse of the coming changes and a desire to raise the bar in our industry. We invested a considerable amount of money and time on their coaching programs. Not yet having any clients or business, I was able to spend many hours learning all I needed to know to hit my new market running.
And that I did.
In 2016, exactly 4 years from the time I joined this life-changing coaching program and started actively selling, I was the #4 agent in my market, selling over $22,000,000 in property, 59 units, and with the highest GCI of any agent in our town! After what many would say was a monumental accomplishment and effort, I began to feel restless. I was thinking that there just had to be more to the business than working my heart out only to try and beat my own record every year. Constantly concerned that my edge was going to be discovered and taken by someone else, wondering whether those that I train will become my competition, looking ahead to the inevitability of needing an “exit plan”—it was exhausting!
I was feeling like another change was on it’s way and I wanted to be ready.
Finding the New Wave
Because I am still friends with my coaches, and having such a high regard for their work, I keep an eye on what they are doing. One day I noticed a Facebook Live video they produced.
As I watched, the excitement grew in my stomach. I saw the new wave coming my way and instantly knew that I wanted to ride it! All my concerns and issues were solved at that exact moment, with this amazing company.
